At the end of Master, students have reached proficiency in their studies get Master in Classical Guitar Performance, Diploma created and supported by the University of Alicante.

Credits and Calendar

The master gives 60 Credits ECTS (European Credits Tranfer System)

Timing and Duration

From January to June.

  • Friday, January 10th, 2020: planning meeting and opening ceremony.
  • Monday, June 29th, 2020: Closing ceremony and handling diplomas.

Tuition fee: 8.000 Euros

This fee includes tuition, materials, concerts and lectures organized by the Master and all the rights corresponding to students of the University of Alicante. Plus an administrative fee=35 EUR. Application fee= 100EUR. Issuance of diploma fee=212 EUR.

8.000 EUR

Tuition fees are expected to be paid in advance when the student has been accepted into the program. Either in full, or by the following deadlines:

  1. 3.000 EUR when the student has been accepted.
  2. 2.500 EUR before September, 30.
  3. 2.500 EUR before December, 15.

Fourteen undergraduate guitarists

Fourteen applicants will be accepted into the program. Guitarists wishing to improve their skills to the highest level of interpretation. Students must already have an undergraduate degree. They need to have completed three or four years in a conservatory or university music program (bachelor degree or similar).

Recognition of diplomas

– Degree from a Spanish Conservatory
-Degree from a EHEA University or Conservatory (European Higher Education Area).
– Degree from a University or Conservatory outside the EHEA. Guitarists need to have completed three or four years in a college or university music program (bachelor degree or similar).
In which case the certification should comply with requirements and an approval by Doctoral & Postgraduate Studies Centre (continUA) of the University of Alicante. The report will be issued once the deadline for applications has been closed.

How to apply

Students must apply and pass a selection process.

The selection committee will consider all applications, based on the documentation provided, and will select candidates to study the master. In the event of a tie, first applicants should take the precedence over others.

If you have missed the deadline for your application, please contact us before submitting a late application. We can consider late applications if there are still places available.

To apply for admission in Master in Classical Guitar Performance, the following documents, either in Spanish or English, should be sent by e-mail to the Master Secretary at  secretaria@master-guitarra-alicante.com

  • A proof of applicant’s degree. If documents are not in Spanish, English, French, Italian or Portuguese, must be accompanied by a sworn translation into Spanish or English.
    -A copy of applicant’s degree from a Spanish Conservatory.
    -A copy of applicant’s degree from a EHEA University or Conservatory (European Higher Education Area).
    -A copy of applicant’s degree from a University or Conservatory outside the EHEA. Applicants need to have completed three or four years in a college or university music program (bachelor degree or similar).   • A copy of the university academic record (transcripts).
  • Copy of ID or Passport.
  • Curriculum Vitae (Spanish or English).
  • A recommendation letter.
  • Photograph.
  • A video recording of approximately 20 minutes including works of at least two different styles. The video can include complete works, parts or movements of larger works. (YouTube, vimeo, WeTrasfer…)
  • Completed application form.
  • A proof of transfer of the non-refundable application fee of 100 EUR (or a screenprint if the transaction was made online). If you are applying for a scholarship you do not need to pay for it.

El Máster en Interpretación de Guitarra Clásica de la Universidad de Alicante se desarrolla en Alicante entre los meses de enero a junio. Es una experiencia completamente novedosa que ofrece a 14 guitarristas la oportunidad única de perfeccionar sus conocimientos y práctica del instrumento de la mano de un Colegio de profesores seleccionados entre los más reputados virtuosos del mundo: Manuel BARRUECO, David RUSSELL, Pepe ROMERO, Sergio y Odair ASSAD, Jordi SAVALL, Ignacio RODES, Xavier DÍAZ LATORRE, Ricardo GALLÉN, Paul GALBRAITH, el neurocientífico Víctor CANDIA y el director de orquesta Mihnea IGNAT.

Overwiew

The University of Alicante organizes the Master in Classical Guitar Performance from January to June. This master is a completely new experience offered to 14 guitarists, a unique opportunity to improve their knowledge and practice of the instrument with professors selected from the most renowned virtuosi in the world, Manuel BARRUECO, David RUSSELL, Pepe ROMERO, Jordi SAVALL, Ignacio RODES, Sergio & Odair ASSAD, Xavier DIAZ LATORRE, Ricardo GALLÉN, Paul GALBRAITH, neuroscientist Víctor CANDIA and conductor Mihnea IGNAT.
